Xiao Wei is a disputes lawyer with experience in commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining LVM, Xiao Wei was part of a disputes team that specialised in shipping, commodities and international trade.

Xiao Wei was also a recipient of the Law School Merit Scholarship for academic excellence.

Since graduating, Xiao Wei has represented clients at all levels in the Singapore Courts and in international arbitrations for matters relating to contractual disputes, banking and financial disputes, insolvency and charterparty disputes. Most notably, Xiao Wei acts for a large state-owned oil trading company in multiple High Court matters relating to the fallout from the Hin Leong scandal and acts as counsel in a death penalty case. The value of the dispute is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Case Highlights

  • Acted for an ex-legal consultant against a Swiss company involving allegations of fraud, misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duties.
  • Acted in a minority shareholder oppression suit set against the backdrop of a joint venture agreement.
  • Acted for a Kenyan company in bringing a claim in Hong Kong against a cryptocurrency company and an escrow agent for fraud and deceit.
