Jin Sheng’s practice spans the breadth of commercial litigation, arbitration, mediation and criminal work, with a specific emphasis on construction and engineering disputes.  Jin Sheng is well versed with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act, and has acted for employers, owners, main contractors and sub-contractors in adjudication applications in the course of his career.

As part of his building and construction practice, Jin Sheng is familiar with the intricacies of both private and public sector projects, advising clients on front-end building and construction agreements, as well as acting for them in disputes.

Jin Sheng’s experience also includes advising clients on disputes involving directors’ duties and shareholder rights, contractual and employment disputes, insurance policy coverage, and regulatory offences involving the Work Injury Compensation Act, Gas Act, Electricity Act, and white-collar crimes. Jin Sheng is a firm believer in the necessity and worth of pro-bono work, and is a counsel volunteer for the Law Society of Singapore’s Criminal Legal Aid Scheme.

Case Highlights

  • Representing a medical devices company in a High Court dispute with a group of former employees who set up a competing company in breach of their obligations of non-competition and obligation of confidentiality (see Clearlab SG Pte Ltd v TingChong Chai and others[2014] SGHC 221)
  • Representing the main contractor of a 7-storey industrial building in a dispute with the sub-contractor over the time for completion of the project and liability for delay (see CAA Technologies Pte Ltd v Newcon Builders Pte Ltd [2016] SGHC 246).
  • Successfully argued for the setting aside of the conviction of a foreign worker charged with making a false claim under the Work Injury Compensation Act (see Md Rafiqul Islam Abdul Aziz  v Public Prosecutor [2016] SGHC 273)
