Prior to joining LVM, Samuel trained at and practiced in a mid-sized law firm doing capital markets and general corporate work, followed by a stint in the same practice areas in one of the largest law firms in Singapore. His previous practice has given him exposure to high value corporate transactions and a firm grasp of the financial regulatory landscape of Singapore. Leveraging on this, his current practice involves civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on contractual disputes and commercial fraud. He also has an interest in criminal defence work, including white collar crime.
Samuel holds a bachelor of business degree from Nanyang Business School and an LL.B from NUS Faculty of Law. He was called to the bar in 2018, and has worked on several high value listings in Singapore and around the region. Samuel believes that justice should be accessible to all, and towards that end, does pro bono work for litigants who are unable to otherwise afford legal services. Outside of the courtroom, he is a traditional and digital painter and sculptor, as well as a maker.

Edric graduated from the University of Nottingham, with a Bachelor of Law with Honours (Second Class Division One). Thereafter, he went on to obtain a Master of Law in Litigation and Dispute Resolution (Distinction) at University College London and was awarded GlaxoSmithKline prize for excellence in Patents and Trade Secrets for achieving the top mark in his cohort.
Upon completing his studies, Edric completed his relevant legal training at one of the Big Four law firms’ Myanmar office where he gained valuable experience in corporate and commercial transaction, and advisory matters. He then completed his training at LVM Law Chambers LLC and was called to the Singapore Bar in August 2020.
In his short time as a Practice Trainee and an Associate, Edric has gained wide exposure to the practice of dispute resolution. He has assisted in a broad range of matters, including international arbitration and contractual disputes.
In his free time, Edric is an avid gamer and enjoys reading.

Michelle Yeo is a former legislation drafter and Deputy Public Prosecutor with recent experience in UK law. She began her legal career in 2011 as a Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney-General’s Chambers, prosecuting a wide range of offences and appearing as counsel in both the State and Supreme Courts.
In 2013, Michelle joined the AGC’s Legislative Division, where she worked with officials from various Ministries. She drafted and advised on Bills and subsidiary legislation regulating cutting-edge technology, as well as to implement Singapore’s international obligations and anti-money laundering/anti-terrorism financing laws. She received the Singapore National Day Award (Team) for the AGC’s work on the Remote Gambling Bill 2014. She was appointed then-AG VK Rajah’s Research Assistant in 2015 and has conducted training sessions for Ministry officials as well as the President’s Aide-de-Camps. Michelle has also worked in general litigation and prison law in the United Kingdom and is in the process of qualifying as a UK solicitor.
Michelle prioritises understanding her clients’ goals holistically and helping to achieve them within existing legal frameworks. She values breaking down complex legal concepts into plain English so that her clients understand clearly what their options are and can make the best decision for themselves.
An advocate for social justice and action, Michelle is actively involved with ReadAble Ltd, a children’s literacy and numeracy non-profit, as well as with Welcome in my Backyard, a social awareness campaign for Migrant Worker issues.

Madeline is a disputes lawyer specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining LVM, Madeline practiced in the disputes department of Drew & Napier LLC and advised on international refugee law at Centre for Asylum Protection, a legal clinic for refugees in Thailand.
Madeline has represented clients before the Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal, on matters including multi-million dollar joint venture disputes, multi-jurisdictional conspiracy claims, division of matrimonial assets of high-net worth individuals, enforcement of international arbitral awards, and tortious land rights disputes. Notably, several of the matters in which she acted tackled novel points of law, and went on to set precedent in the fields of family law and international arbitration law. Madeline’s expertise also includes corporate investigations on workplace safety, sexual harassment, and money-laundering and corruption.
Outside of practice, Madeline continues her work with refugees by supporting the livelihoods of those forced to leave their homeland due to political, religious or sexual orientation.

Andrew graduated from the University of Warwick (2nd Upper Hons) and was called to the Singapore Bar in May 2019.
Prior to joining LVM Law Chambers LLC, Andrew was an associate at another law firm with a particular focus on corporate and commercial transactions, and private client matters. Andrew’s practice involved a wide range of commercial matters from tenancy agreements, shareholder agreements and franchising agreements, to more personal matters such as succession planning and inheritance.
Andrew’s current practice is in general litigation as he makes his foray into the world of litigation.He is currently working on an array of different matters ranging from breach of contract to tortious wrongs and looks forward to expanding his scope of practice.
Prior to commencing legal practice, Andrew was a devoted reader and practitioner of Marcella Hazan’s Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking. Nowadays he is a devoted consumer.

Xiao Wei is a disputes lawyer with experience in commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining LVM, Xiao Wei was part of a disputes team that specialised in shipping, commodities and international trade.
Xiao Wei was also a recipient of the Law School Merit Scholarship for academic excellence.
Since graduating, Xiao Wei has represented clients at all levels in the Singapore Courts and in international arbitrations for matters relating to contractual disputes, banking and financial disputes, insolvency and charterparty disputes. Most notably, Xiao Wei acts for a large state-owned oil trading company in multiple High Court matters relating to the fallout from the Hin Leong scandal and acts as counsel in a death penalty case. The value of the dispute is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Jonathan attended the Singapore Management University’s School of Law and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Laws (Summa cum Laude) and Bachelor of Business Management (Finance) (Summa cum Laude). He is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and basic Bahasa Melayu.
Upon graduation, Jonathan served as Deputy Public Prosecutor for a short period of time before being posted to the Supreme Court of Singapore as a Justices Law Clerk for two years where he assisted the Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal on a variety of matters involving different fields of law. Two of the judgments Jonathan assisted on have since become landmark decisions on administrative law and litigation funding.
After his stint in the Judiciary, Jonathan was called to the Singapore Bar in 2016. Since then, he has worked with senior local and international practitioners in private practice, including practitioners from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, and the British Virgin Islands. His practice area is mainly in high-value commercial litigation, arbitration, and mediation, specifically in the fields of banking, real estate, oil and gas, financial technology, and private equity. Some of the clients Jonathan has represented include Unipec Singapore Pte Ltd, Grabtaxi Holdings Pte Ltd, MS First Capital Insurance Pte Ltd, and Asiatravel.com Holdings Ltd.
Most of Jonathan’s cases involve investigations and uncovering of fraudulent conduct.
Jonathan is also an accredited mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and part of the FIDReC-SMC Co-Mediation Pilot Scheme. Since being empanelled, Jonathan has mediated several cases involving credit card disputes, motor insurance, and accident and health insurance. He has been commended for his ability to manage expectations and emptions well and received positive feedback for his “good control of the proceedings”, ability to build “good rapport with the parties”, and “helping explore and develop options” for the parties to amicably resolve their dispute.

Case Highlights
- Presently representing a major state-owned entity in a Singapore International Arbitration Centre arbitration against one of the largest independent oil storage terminals in Asia Pacific. The claim is worth about US$40 million and relates to the largest corporate fraud in Singapore’s history.
- Successfully represented and advised an individual in resisting an appeal concerning the recission of a share transaction worth US$30 million (Liberty Sky Investments Ltd v Aesthetic Medical Partners Pte Ltd and other appeals and another matter [2020] 1 SLR 606). The matter involved issues of fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of contract, and bars to recission of contract.
- Successfully represented and advised a law firm in an appeal such that the law firm was free to act for a second client against the same defendants when a previous suit against the defendants had settled on terms which were confidential (LVM Law Chambers LLC v Wan Hoe Keet and another and another matter [2020] 1 SLR 1083).
- Represented 4 high net-worth individuals from an Indonesian family in an inheritance dispute concerning the division of a family-owned conglomerate. The dispute was worth more than US$200 million and eventually successfully settled after mediation at the Singapore International Mediation Centre.
- Successfully represented a couple in the Singapore High Court on their claim against a rogue financial adviser for breach of fiduciary duties and fraud (Sabyasachi Mukherjee v Pradeepto Kumar Biswas [2018] SGHC 271) and getting the appeal struck out on the basis that the appellant repeatedly failed to file the necessary documents for bringing the appeal (Pradeepto Kumar Biswas v Sabyasachi Mukherjee and another [2019] SGCA 79)
- Represented a high net worth individual in a preliminary determination involving questions of law relating to res judicata and abuse of process (BLL v BLM and another [2019] SGHC 208)
- Successfully assisted Malaysian lawyers and a high net-worth individual in a defamation appeal to the Malaysian Court of Appeal by providing a Singapore law perspective on the law of defamation.
- Successfully represented 4 companies in obtaining a moratorium under Section 211B of the Companies Act and preparing the proposed scheme of arrangement to the creditors.
- Successfully represented a high net-worth expatriate mother in an acrimonious divorce in an application for her to relocate back to her home country with her 2-year-old son.
- Successfully obtained a conditional warning for an individual charged under Section 322 of the Penal Code (Cap 224, 2008 Rev Ed) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt after extensive engagement with the Prosecution.

Pak Waltan is a Director of LVM Law Chambers LLC and a key member of the firm’s Insurance Disputes team, with 15 years of insurance dispute experience having practiced in boutique insurance firms including B Rao & K S Rajah and United Legal Alliance LLC, as well as in Rajah & Tann LLP.
During her formative years in Rao & K S Rajah, Waltan independently handled a wide range of insurance related matters involving, amongst others, property damage and personal injury claims, workmen’s compensation claims, as well as public liability cases. In particular, she assisted in defending the claim made by Ms Andrea D’cruz against the importers and distributors of the infamous Slim10 pills.
At Rajah & Tann, Waltan was privileged to work in the Insurance Department helmed by Mr. Quentin Loh S. C., before he was elevated to the High Court bench. Waltan subsequently joined United Legal Alliance LLC, another boutique insurance practice where she was an Associate Director in the General Insurance Litigation Department for 8 years.

Case Highlights
Waltan specialises in general insurance litigation, and has been instructed by major insurers in Singapore on the following:
(A) Professional indemnity insurers to act on behalf of, among others:
- An Architect in a professional negligence claim against him by a club who claimed that the Architect’s design failed to comply with the Fire Code and was allegedly unfit for its purpose;
- A firm of auditors against a claim made by their clients, a leading company in the luxury watches and accessories industry, for failing to discover a fraud committed on the company by the company’s accounts manager;
- Several engineers against claims made by the owners of adjacent properties who claimed that their properties were damaged due to the engineer’s alleged failure to properly design / supervise excavation works premises under construction; and
- Several solicitors who were sued by their clients for allowing their matters to become time barred and / or deemed discontinued.
(B) She has also been instructed by public liability insurers to represent, among others:
- Contractors of construction projects where injury and / or property damage was caused to third parties or lawful entrants into the project site;
- Various occupiers of shopping malls / shop units where shoppers sustained injuries arising out of slip and fall incidents and accident caused by allegedly defective premises;
- A large food court chain in Singapore whose pipe flushing works caused water damage to occupiers of neighbouring shops;
- A local pastry chain whose customers sustained food poisoning;
- The managing agents of various recreational clubs in Singapore whose members / guests sustained injury due to defective premises and / or the negligence of the clubs’ employees;
- Various Town Councils against claims made by members of the public who alleged that they sustained injuries arising out of slip and fall incidents / accident caused by defective premises / fallen trees; and
- Management Corporation Strata Titles of several condominiums and strata buildings for damage caused to subsidiary proprietors’ property;
(C) Waltan also has experience investigating and understanding the technical aspects of construction matters as she was required to represent various developers and contractors insured under Contractors’ All Risk Policies / Erection All Risks Policies against claims for property damage and personal injury caused in industrial accidents, including cranes / scaffold structure collapse fire and / or explosion and landslip incidents.
(D) In addition, Waltan has assisted insurers in recovery actions for performance bonds / guarantees, statutory recovery under the Work Injury Compensation Act (Cap 354) and subrogation claims.
Besides litigation matters, Waltan has also advised insurers on the efficacy of a wide range of policy terms, including motor insurance policies, travel insurance policies, home contents / burglary policies, errors and omissions policies, fidelity policies. She has also advised local and foreign Insurers and Insurance Intermediaries on various regulatory matters, such as compliance with the Insurance Act (Cap 142) and Financial Advisers Act (Cap 110).

Walter is a senior associate with LVM Law Chambers. His practice spans a wide range of matters, with the present focus being on banking disputes, insolvency and restructuring and corporate fraud.
Walter has experience acting for private clients, banks, financial institutions and international conglomerates in domestic and international disputes.
Walter has held research positions at both the National University of Singapore (Centre for Asian Legal Studies) and the Singapore Management University, and was previously Associate Editor of the Asian Journal of Comparative Law, published by Cambridge University Press.
