Michelle Yeo is a former legislation drafter and Deputy Public Prosecutor with recent experience in UK law. She began her legal career in 2011 as a Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney-General’s Chambers, prosecuting a wide range of offences and appearing as counsel in both the State and Supreme Courts.

In 2013, Michelle joined the AGC’s Legislative Division, where she worked with officials from various Ministries. She drafted and advised on Bills and subsidiary legislation regulating cutting-edge technology, as well as to implement Singapore’s international obligations and anti-money laundering/anti-terrorism financing laws. She received the Singapore National Day Award (Team) for the AGC’s work on the Remote Gambling Bill 2014. She was appointed then-AG VK Rajah’s Research Assistant in 2015 and has conducted training sessions for Ministry officials as well as the President’s Aide-de-Camps. Michelle has also worked in general litigation and prison law in the United Kingdom and is in the process of qualifying as a UK solicitor.

Michelle prioritises understanding her clients’ goals holistically and helping to achieve them within existing legal frameworks. She values breaking down complex legal concepts into plain English so that her clients understand clearly what their options are and can make the best decision for themselves.

An advocate for social justice and action, Michelle is actively involved with ReadAble Ltd, a children’s literacy and numeracy non-profit, as well as with Welcome in my Backyard, a social awareness campaign for Migrant Worker issues.
