Joanna has 12 years of experience in commercial arbitration, litigation, and advisory work primarily in the infrastructure sector. She is accredited both as a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, as well as an Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law by the Singapore Academy of Law.

Joanna has extensive experience representing major contractors in large-scale infrastructure, engineering and construction disputes across a wide range of jurisdictions and sectors, often with a multi-jurisdictional or cross-border angle. Having honed her practice first in Dentons Rodyk & Davidson LLP, and subsequently in both Pinsent Masons LLP’s Singapore and Hong Kong offices, Joanna has been consistently involved in a variety of international disputes in the Asia Pacific region, as well as globally. Such disputes notably include claims arising from various MRT and building projects in Singapore, as well as MTRC projects in Hong Kong. On a global front, she has advised on both upstream and downstream claims in projects across Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Australia, the UK, as well as South Africa.

Joanna brings with her a wealth of experience handling a variety of international disputes across the globe, as well as a keen appreciation of the issues arising from various standard forms used in international construction projects, such as the PSSCOC, the SIA and REDAS forms of contracts, and the NEC and FIDIC suite of contracts.

She is also a contributor to the leading construction law text in Singapore, Law and Practice of Construction Contracts (Chow Kok Fong, 2018) and the SICC Handbook – A Guide to the Rules and Procedures of the Singapore International Commercial Court (Sweet & Maxwell, 2016).

Beyond her client-facing work, Joanna also sits on the Singapore Academy of Law Construction Law Protocol Working
Group. She also sits on the Law Society of Singapore’s Civil Practice Committee and Women in Practice Committee, as well
as the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators’ Education Committee and Social Committee.
