Jansen is a dispute resolution lawyer with specialised knowledge and expertise in data protection.

Jansen started out practising law as a corporate commercial litigator. His experience spans a wide range of work including, international arbitration, corporate commercial, construction, and medical negligence claims.

Jansen subsequently took up a position with the Personal Data Protection Commission as assistant chief counsel handling mainly enforcement matters. Jansen has written on the subject of data protection; spoken at various events and seminars to lawyers and industry players; and was one of the deputy editors for the inaugural PDP Digest. He has obtained several qualifications in privacy and data protection, namely, CIPP/A, CIPP/E, and CIPM. He holds a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) designation with the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Case Highlights

  • Acted in a claim relating to investments made by a multi-family office amounting to more than US$100 million: Cheong Soh Chin and Others v Eng Chiet Shoong and Others [2015] SGHC 173.
  • Acted in an international arbitration dispute in relation to an oil and gas project.
  • Acted in a claim by a de-listed company against the previous directors for breach of fiduciary duties.
  • Acted in an appeal relating to a construction dispute: Chin Ivan v H P Construction & Engineering Pte Ltd [2015] 3 SLR 124.
  • Acted in an inquiry before the Singapore Medical Council Disciplinary Committee which went on appeal to the Court of Three Judges: Ang Pek San Lawrence v Singapore Medical Council [2015] 1 SLR 436 and [2015] 2 SLR 1179.
  • Acted in a dispute involving a landed property: Mahidon Nichiar Mohd Ali and Others v Dawood Sultan Kamaldin [2014] SGHC 207.
