Wei Jie read law at the National University of Singapore and was called to the Singapore bar in 2014. He trained with the commercial litigation practice of one of the Big 4 law firms in Singapore, and subsequently practiced in a boutique dispute resolution practice specialising in complex construction disputes and investment banking disputes. He has represented and advised clients ranging from large MNCs to private individuals in disputes at all levels of the Singapore Courts, as well as in arbitration and statutory adjudications.

Wei Jie also has substantial experience advising on corporate and contractual matters, having been seconded to an Australian-headquartered multinational construction, property and infrastructure company, as well as previously being Assistant Director in the legal division of a government agency.

Case Highlights

Advising and representing a private investor in a dispute in the Singapore Courts against an investment bank in relation to purchase of complex structured financial products (such as accumulators and decumulators), with a disputed quantum of over US$280 million.

Representing a substantial main contractor in an application to set aside an adjudication determination under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act – involving a novel point of law on how supply contracts are treated under the provisions of the Act (Reported as Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co Ltd v International Elements Pte Ltd [2016] 4 SLR 626)

Representing and advising various construction and engineering companies in adjudication proceedings under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act, involving related court proceedings (Published cases: ASM Pte Ltd v ASN Pte Ltd [2015] SCAdjR 230; ASA Pte Ltd v ASB Pte Ltd [2015] SCAdjR 17)
